Mi Pueblito

I visited Mi Pueblito! It serves Colombian food. Colombia is the main entrance to South America. It is the fourth largest country.

The inside of Mi Pueblito has a blue and orange color theme. It is very pretty! It has a Columbian feel to it.
The location of Mi Pueblito is okay! It is easy to get to but seemed like it was in the middle of no where. There is a wide variety of parking spaces and the inside of the restaurant makes you feel like you could be in Colombia. There was even a little shop located in the store. The customer service is great. The price range was good compared to the amount of food that was given! There was so much I thought it was a large!! The food would have been VERY good if I liked Colombian food, but it was not my favorite! I ordered the Arroz con Pollo. It was rice mixed with peas, chicken, and carrots. The dessert I ordered was the tres leche. It was not as good as I had hoped but it was still tastey. Next time I would get the chocolate cake with ice cream. My friend had it. The cake looked and tasted amazing!!! Overall I had a good experiance at this restaurant and I would recomed it to families who want a taste of how the Colombians live and eat!

The Original Marini’s Empanada House

713.266.2729

The restaurant I went to was The Original Marini’s Empanada House. This food is from Argentina. Argentina is one of the world's major food producers. It is a major producer of meat (especially beef), wheat, corn, milk, beans, and soybeans. Given the country's vast production of beef, red meat is an especially common part of the Argentine dietAsado, dulce de leche, empanadas and yerba mate are also found throughout Argentina. An empanada is among the most popular street foods in Brazil. The pastry is available at food carts, fast food restaurants, and gas stations. It is a piece of stuffed bread that comes with various fillings such as meat, seafood, seasonal vegetables, cheese, and sauces.

The outside and inside of The Original Marini’s Empanada House is nice. There is nothing grand about it but it is a nice looking place.

I had two plain cheese, and one four cheeses empanadas. They were divine. They were so delicious. These empanadas were everybody’s favorites. Everybody loved them. For dessert I had a chocolate empanada. It was lovely. These empanadas were the best!

My experience at The Original Marini’s Empanada House was amazing. The Original Marini’s Empanada House is my favorite restaurant so far! The location was great and there were many parking spaces. The ambiance was not the greatest but it works. The customer service was fantastic! The owner came out and talked with us! He was so sweet. He informed us about the restaurant. The prices of the food were great. They were so reasonable. My empanadas were spectacular. They were so delicious. I am going back to The Original Marini’s Empanada House. It may be one of my favorite restaurants ever. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody and everybody. It was so great! It is perfect for any time or non dressy occasion. I can’t wait to go back!

Mi Luna: Tapas Restaurant & Bar

(713)-520-5025

Traditional Spanish food would consist of bread, legumes, rice, vegetables, pork, lamb, beef, eggs, barnyard animals (chickens, rabbits, squabs), wild herbs, game, fish, shellfish, saltfish, orchard fruits, nuts, grapes, milk of cows, sheep, and/or goats, honey and Spanish-grown condiments (parsley, thyme, oregano, paprika, saffron, onions, garlic).

The outside of the Mi Luna was pretty. The building was painted yellow with vines on the wall. The inside was nice. There were paintings on the wall. It sort of had a yellow and red color scheme which made it feel like you were in Spain.

The food was okay. I ordered Paella de la tierra. This is pork loin, chorizo, and chicken baked in saffron rice. This was not my favorite but it was good.. My table had also ordered the Tapas Tradicionales which included a ton of different foods. The best food I eat was croquetas de patatas. It was so good. Croquetas de patatas are fried potato croquettes with alioli.

Overall the experience was great. I had a amazing time. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone for anytime. It is perfect for a nice dinner with family or friends. I really enjoyed going to Mi Luna. I will definitely go again.

Café Piquet: Cuban Cuisine

(713)-664-1031

The island of Cuba lies about ninety miles south of the Florida Keys. Rice and beans are popular foods as well as fried plantains, tubers, and vegetables. Beef, pork, and chicken are also main foods.

The outside of Café Piquet was very nice. There was an outdoor patio with a white banister and a statue. The outside was very pretty. On the inside there were signs and license plates. The inside was not as pretty as the outside.

The food was good but not spectacular. I had a Pechuga de Pollo a la Plancha. It was a grilled chicken breast. It tasted good. There was white rice, black beans, and ripe plantains. Overall the meal was delicious. My friend who got the Cuban Sampler loved her food as well; however, my other friend who got the Ropa Bieja did not like her food at all.

The overall experience was good. The location was far away and seemed like in the middle of no where. However, the parking was good. We found a spot in no time. Café Piquet was a nice looking restaurant. The customer service was good. Everyone was so nice and helpful. The prices were fine and the food was pleasant. I would recommend Café Piquet to adults who like to try new things or adults who do not have picky children.

Saldivia's: Uruguayan Food

The mapquest link is http://www.mapquest.com/?sem=1&ncid=mpqmap00170000000007&s_kwcid=TC|10782|directions||S||5197679936 and the restaurant site link is http://www.saldivias.com/. The phone number is (713) 782-9494.

Uruguay is on the southeastern Atlantic coast of the Southern Cone of South America, bordering Argentina to the west and south and Brazil to the north. Common food is meat, particularly beef. The people eat a lot of bread, mainly made of white flour, and many consume dairy products, including the national dessert, dulce de leche. Other popular desserts are pastries, milk and egg pudding, and rice pudding. The outside of the restaurant is plain. But inside it is a lot nicer, and there is a Uruguayan feel. The service is great and the staff is nice. This restaurant serves many types of food including fish, chicken, and beef. I ordered the Pechuga a las Brazs. This is a breast of chicken. It was delightful, especially the potatoes that were on the side. Before this I was offered bread and a salad. Chimichurri was offered for the bread which was good, however; I did not enjoy the salad. Then for dessert I had a tres leches which was great!

I really enjoyed going to Saldivia's. The experience was great. I would recommend this to everyone for any occasion. It was too much food for me to eat at lunch, so I would recommend going there for dinner. Saldivia’s South American Grill was an amazing restaurant and I would definitely go there again.
